4 Suitcase Packing Hacks You Never Thought Of

Vacations are fun, but the planning and packing can be stressful. Try these methods to maximize carryon space and feel more organized when traveling.

1. Plan outfits around shoes

It goes without saying that planning what to wear will help you pack less. But the process in which you plan can make all the difference!

First, start with the shoes you’d like to bring, since they’re the bulkiest, least flexible item. Pick the minimum amount of shoes possible and try to stick with neutral colors.

Now, plan outfits that match these shoes. The lightest way to pack clothes is finding neutral colored (or shoe-matching colored) one-pieces. Think jumpsuits, rompers, and dresses. Then, dress up these basics with fancy jewelry.

2. Buy the right packing cubes

Most people will tell you that packing cubes are a way to save space… but in reality, they’re more of a way to relieve stress of finding things. To help you know exactly where things are in your suitcase, use translucent or differently colored cubes.

Packing 5 cubes the same color means you won’t be able to differentiate without opening, which ruins the point.

3. Pack into edges and corners

Be sure you’re packing along the walls of your suitcase to maximize space. That means tucking socks into the corners and placing individual shoes along the sides.

If you aren’t using packing cubes, put the items you’ll use first towards the top and items you’ll use towards the end of your trip at the bottom.

4. Try travel friendly products

Want to pack in a carryon, but worried about liquid space? You already know to bring powder foundations, powder blushes, and makeup wipes.

Consider taking it a step further with solid bar shampoo and conditioner.

Another great packing hack for carryon travel is this tube pillow! You can fit two outfits inside, so it’s like secretly carrying extra luggage onto the plane.

Planning ahead and becoming a master packer can help your trip be much more enjoyable. Happy travels!
